Reviews of children’s dinosaur literature (and the occasional dino toy!) Especially with all its articulation, and the fact that it scales better with the rest of the Mattel JW 3 and 3/4 line. ![]() Otherwise, unless you know of some kids that would be interested in playing with this, or if you are interested in these kind of play features, the ‘Super Posable’ Indoraptor is probably the better option for collectors. The sounds it emits are straight from the film version as well.Ĭonsidering I only got this toy for about $10 on Amazon recently (with free shipping), it was definitely worth getting for that cheap (I had passed it up at the $30-35 price elsewhere), especially just to have one with a slightly better head (and teeth) sculpt. However, it is a bit chunkier than its film counterpart because of its action features. The head and teeth are sculpted a bit more accurate to the creature in the film than the ‘Super Posable’ version or even the Battle Damage one. The toy is a good representation for the most part, especially with its sculpting detail and black and gold paint scheme. Since this is not a real dinosaur by any means, the only thing to compare it to would be its film counterpart. Everything else is tied to the action features. It only really has it in the neck, legs, and feet, and the arms and hands to an extent (the elbow joints are super tight, much like the super tight joints on the Indominus rex skeleton that came in the Quest for Indominus rex pack, and I’ve seen many complaints about broken arms in reviews of this figure). Unlike the other figures, this one does not have as much articulation. The tail itself can be twisted around to make the torso and neck rotate (usually causing the Indoraptor’s head to flop about), with some limited up and down motion as well. The lower button makes the creature’s eyes flash red as it bites and roars. The upper one makes the Indoraptor grab with its arms, although it is not much of a grab, and plays a sound effect for the grabbing motion. These are activated by two buttons on the base of the tail. It is also much thicker in the tail and torso, which is due to the electronic and action features (which are similar to those of the Thrash ‘n Throw Tyrannosaurus). It is about 17 inches (43 cm) long by about 7 inches (18 cm) tall from the feet to the head, depending on the positioning of the leg joints. The ‘Grab ‘n Growl’ Indoraptor is a much more imposing beast then the smaller and more articulated options out there. There is also a Battle Damage Indoraptor that came in the Lockwood Ultimate Battle set, which saw a very limited worldwide release (only around 1000 were made, as the rumor goes). The ‘Grab ‘n Growl’ Indoraptor, which will be the subject of this review, is the second one to be released. The first one that was readily available was the ‘Super Posable’ Indoraptor.
